We are not just individuals… we are the church.
Our Ministries
We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness. – Romans 12: 6-8

Speak up and out! Join a church committee!

We don’t just encourage our members to be active in doing community service but we also want to hear and see the talents of our members represented throughout our church committees. By joining a committee members have a say in all the happenings of church activities.

Please look below to see all the opportunities that you may want to participate!

Buildings and Grounds
Our Buildings and Grounds Committee oversees the physical welfare of all real church properties. Knowledgeable, handy, and willing to get their hands dirty describes this capable bunch!
Christian Education
Our Christian Education Committee has a lot of energy!  They coordinate all educational work of the church including Sunday school and youth groups.
Financial Development Ministry
This ministry, that includes both our Legacy and Endowment Committees, strives to offer giving options for our members in a spiritual manner. They provide financial information, programs, and workshops so we may be better prepared for the future.
Our Fundraising Committee hosts several activities each year to help raise funds for our church that are used in a variety of ways.  The Trash & Treasure sale during Byronfest and the annual fundraising dinner and silent auction are highlights of fundraising’s activities.
 Prayer Ministry
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each week prayer requests are raised up by our Prayer Team. If you are in need of prayer, please complete the prayer request form located on our HOME page or under the RESOURCES tab. Unless otherwise indicated, prayer requests submitted by you are only shared with members of the prayer ministry team and the pastor,
Our congregation participates in missions locally, nationally and internationally through Hands Helping Haiti, Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, MS, Slidell, LA, UCC annual offerings for disaster relief, justice and compassion, and retired clergy and their spouses. Locally, we support People Helping People, Meals on Wheels, Hope of Rochelle, Focus Home, Ogle County Hospice, Byron Public Schools and sponsor the Alternative Christmas Fair.
Meal Ministry
We prepare and deliver homemade meals to the homes of our shut-ins, and we plan potlucks and other opportunities to create fellowship with members and friends of the congregation and community.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. We have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible through use in service with audio/visuals and streaming live our Sunday sermons. We also maintain active Facebook page for additional church communication.
Our Memorial Committee works with and advises prospective donors of our church’s needs and uses memorial monies per the wishes of those who donated them as in keeping with our church’s priority lists.
Music connects our hearts, minds, and souls to God’s message.  Our Music Committee oversees the musical ministry of our church and other related events.
Our Nominating Committee is charged with connecting volunteers with a call to service with the ministry for which they will have the most capacity to serve.
Outreach is excited to find opportunities to reach out to our visitors and church members alike to share the good news of Jesus Christ.  God-honoring service is something we strive for both inside and outside our church walls.
